Our trip to Greece was in May, 2019. Boat trips, long drives, great food and drink kept us company as we walked the ruins of Corinth, Ancient Olympia, the temple of Delphi and the Acropolis before travelling to Santorini in the blue Aegean waters.
Hatgad was a our first outstation trip after COVID, when we travelled during Diwali in 2020. Located on the Gujarat Maharashtra border very close to Saputara (which we also visited), it was a welcome respite after being cloistered at home for many months.
May 2018 we did a short holiday in Kanha, Madhya Pradesh, quite the heart of tiger country and also India's largest National Park. The dry heat isn't for the faint hearted but does provide great sighting opportunities at that time of the year. We were unfortunate to not see a tiger, thought we saw much else.
We visited Kumbhalgarh in 2009 and again in 2021 . The splendour and solidity of India's most spectacular fortress needs to been witnessed. The impregnable 36 km long fort wall which has withstood the ravages of time still remains India's longest wall. Kumbhalgarh was never conquered or captured in it's history.
This was a solo trip for me during a short break I had between jobs in Jun 2017. It was among the best wildlife trips I ever did. The highlight of the trip was a sighting of an entire family of tigers (Dad, mum and two cubs). Ranthambhore fort is additionally a great place to visit.
I checked off a bucket list item in June 2018 when In. travelled to Russia for the FIFA World Cup. Apart from 2 games (at Moscow & Sochi) we visited St. Petersburg for it's cultural richness, and travelled to Lake Baikal in Southern Siberia to see the natural wonder.
We travelled to Southern Rajasthan in Nov 2021. Ranakpur was on my "must visit" list. It is a hidden gem among Rajasthan's many splendid and better known destinations. As a work of timeless art in white marble, Ranakpur is second to none.
Our last holiday before COVID struck the planet was in December 2019 in Tadoba, one of India's smaller National Parks, known for almost guaranteed sightings of the Royal Bengal Tiger. We were far from disappointed with some amazing sightings to cherish.
